Bob: you mentioned USRX X2 technolog. As of now, or maybe a few weeks ago they were seeking a waiver for its X2 technology which it is testing to reach actual 56k bit/sec. They recently aknowledged that users won't be able to connect at the full 56k speed but at 53k instead. That is because of Yuck! FCC rules to protect switching equipment that could get overloaded by highspeed transmissions. This waiver should work in their favor it seems but time will tell. But the overall slowdown of the Internet poses another obstacle to fast downloading of information.
Lets hope the FTEL/FNET dedicated hardware is the Show Stopper for these ISP's. Both ends working like Frank has mentioned will be word of mouth and spread like wildfire in the near future. Lets hope he can squeeze more than the 40k bit/sec. that most feel is obtainable. You say that your line interference is less/data conditioned? How about backed up servers in your area?
Clean lines in Dallas, not so clean on the streets! ggg
