To All, Rumors of Compaq stuffing the channel enormously appear to be true. I have seen warehouses stuffed with Compaq crap, but what I've seen is only a dust mote on the dirt pile of Compaq stuffing, so I wasn't sure I was right on my conclusions. But today CPQ announced that they are gaining market share in "sales" to the channel. Which means the incentives were too high for the channel to remember the lessons of last Spring and early Summer. CPQ, of course, is not calling this stuffing. It is gaining market share. Like on "La Femme Nikita," after they are done filling time by giving each other long, knowing looks in dark rooms, they cancel an operative. They never kill a human being. <G>
