GERN .. Good news in today's Nature Magazine...may also help ASTM and other similar stocks.

In today's issue of Nature Magazine (December 10, 1998) volume 396, pp. 506-508, there is a very interesting and significant news story. In the article, it states that the Senate Appropriations committee for Labor, Health, and Education, which is chaired by Arlen Specter, is LIKELY TO REVISE THE CURRENT BAN on stem cell research, at least as performed by GERN. This is because the work performed by GERN was on stem cells isolated from fetal tissue rather than embryos...

If this change occurs, it will open the doors to federal funding for GERN (and probably others, but GERN is specifically mentioned in the article.)

I also saw a rumor on the Yahoo threads that there is an article in tomorrow's Science Magazine that will describe highly successful cloning of cattle, which may give a further boost to these companies.
