John: Thanks for the letting me know that the latest version has the file fix in it. I will download it and do an evaluation.

I agree that each PC will contain different files, but the compliance status of the same versions of the same files should be the same, even though they're on different machines in different parts of the world.

MSWorks is the default office tool suite on many machines currently being retailed. For instance, my Compaq PII 450 came with it pre-installed. That doesn't mean I have to use it on a daily basis. It is handy to keep around, though, in case I need to walk beginning users through its paces.

Regardless of whether it is in frequent use or no use at all, it shouldn't be listed as "non-compliant", and its manufacturer shouldn't be listed as "NOVELL". Either the database is wrong, or they rigged a screen shot just so they'd have something to show. Hopefully, it's the latter case. If so, though, they need to think more about the data they're rigging. Their current example doesn't give me a warm fuzzy feeling about the validity of their database.

BTW, that version of COMMAND.COM is the version that ships with Windows 98.

Regards,

TED
