In part, I agree with your dislike of the "Rights" plan, a misnomer if I ever saw one. ... unless it's describing what's been taken away.

However, if one wants to realize maximum appreciation from PRIA, that does require ownership during the full duration of the next upcycle.
Getting a takeover premium is unlikely to fully compensate the shareholders relative to expected returns for the next peak.
