Okee-boy,

Mobil makes the product, and the brochure says it is sold through a network of over 1000 lumber dealers. Call 800-Buy-Trex for the dealer nearest you. The fine print on the brochure also says it was current as of February 1996, so this is not a new product. But this is the first I've heard of it so it must not be taking off in the US.

I think this is an indication of why URT is focusing on foriegn markets rather than domestic markets like the Home Depot. Face it, Americans want the cheapest product, and rarely look at the total cost over time. Since most people only own a house 3-5 years, they would rather spend less for something like landscape timbers because if they rot out after 8-10 years, the odd are they won't even live there by then.

If FibrePlast could be manufactured such that the end product was cheaper than wood, then with all the other benefits, you might get people to buy. But with an equal price, or more expensive, Americans will still buy pressure treated wood.

Let's keep hoping for those foriegn deals to finally hit, because I don't think the domestic market is going to be the first to take off.

Cliff
