I agree that the prices may provide their own solution. The lower it goes the more radical solution may be implemented. Look at what
Gaddafi is proposing:

TUNIS, Dec 10 (Reuters) - Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi has sent a message to all heads of states of the members of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), "calling with insistence for a complete halt of oil pumping during the winter season," the official Libyan news agency JANA reported.

The agency, in a dispatch in Arabic faxed to Reuters on Thursday, said Gaddafi "stressed in his message that it is not logical for the price of goods we buy as consumers to multiply at the time when oil prices continue constant decline."
