Re: Dos & NTFS DOS

Much clearer understanding for me now. I am planning to use NTFS so another layer of file access outside of NT itself via NTFSDOS would be a good thing.

What NT does NOT have is any way to boot to a true,
old-time relaxed DOS environment

Let me see if I really understood you correctly. Lets say I wanted to flash the Aopen BIOS. I must do this in a Dos environment but NT will not allow me to boot to DOS. So I would use the NT DOS box for this procedure which requires a separate DOS OS installed though not bootable. Correct?

And NTSFDOS would provide access to DOS files in the absence of NT since again I could not boot with the installed DOS OS. But only under the NTFS.

I need DOS to do certain things.
I can use the NT DOS box to use DOS.
I can read DOS NTFS files without NT with NTSFDOS.

Have I scrambled your excellent explanation or by chance something sunk in correctly ?
