Why does the US government care about raising oil prices? Low energy prices are good for the vast majority of Americans--and the world. They're just bad for us, and the oil service industry.

But responding to a later post, why do the Saudis want dominance? I'd rather have a 17% market share of $18 oil, than a 25% share of $9 oil. Maybe they have a long range plan.
So did the Venezuala government, and look what it got them. Never thought I would be glad to see a socialist win an election.
If anybody in OPEC knows what they are doing they are fooling me badly, and head faking us all.

To paraphrase a long dead friend,

Hell is a place where

the Italians run the organization,
the English handle the cooking,
the Germans arrange the entertainment,
and the Arabs do the economic planning.
