I've been playing with several nets on SEEK lately, using different influences and indexes - trying to see what affect they have, etc.
I set up several nets for SEEK, using YHOO and INETINFO as relateds, often with different several different influence periods for the relateds...
Anyway, to make a long story short, because of all the recent volatility (and lack of any better reason not to), I tried a 7 day influence period for SEEK as the target, 1 and 10 days for SEEK as relateds, 1 day for YHOO, and 1, 10, and 20 days for the INETINFO index.
The verify period starts on 11/2/98 and looks pretty good. It seems to be giving Sell signals 1 or two days earlier than the actual peeks that the price has been reaching, but the buy and hold signals seem to be pretty accurate.
This is the only net I've tried with a short influence period that actually seemed to improve the accuracy - I'm beginning to think that the Verfiy periods should fit the duration of trends that are observed on the graphs...
Unfortunately, I'm still just experimenting and haven't placed any real money on any of these predictions - but, I'd be way ahead if I had...maybe next week if the next few days prove to fit the verfiy period's graph as well as the last week or two have...
