ALL:

I'm gonna speculate that the "deal" has essentially been consummated. All of the details seem to be out there. The CDMAone chiprate will be THE chiprate. To accommodate the needs of the existing underlying networks there will be several slightly different variants of the standard, "harmonized" in the handset(This is how ERICY gets to declare victory). Things like GPS, type of codec, etc, will be decided upon based on field trials.

Ericsson is indeed out there blowing in the wind, all by themselves. Within the industry, they are the fall guy:

"QUALCOMM invites Ericsson to join the Company and the majority of the world's wireless industry in convergence discussions taking place in the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) and in various standards organizations worldwide."

There will be a flurry of deals. Hang onto your Hats!
