Yet another true story (somewhat) about Reefer Madness...

I mentioned in an earlier post that my high school student council presented Reefer Madness during my senior year in '78. The person who picked it out was the council president, Jim Van de Velde. Jim was a good friend, eventually a Yale graduate, and currently a Yale professor.

Last week a student at Yale was murdered... stabbed to death. The local paper reported the police were focusing on someone close to the female victim, her thesis advisor: Jim Van de Velde. Even the New York TV news had videotape today of Jim even though the police maintained they had absolutely no suspects. Of course I believe that Jim is totally innocent and am outraged how the media engage in wanton speculation to the detriment of someone who worked his whole life to gain the respect he has achieved. Unless a "real" suspect is found pretty quick, he'll have to endure whispers wherever he goes.

No, there's nothing anyone here can do. I just kind of wanted to get that off my chest.
