Mika, you ask "Why should the minority dictate the majority?" It has been explained before, but maybe you don't read all this busy thread. The minority of one, which created and owns the property at issue, gets to decide what they do with it. That is why they dictate to the whole world.

Then you say the reduced chip rate is a 10% reduction as though that is a reduction in efficiency. Read the technical review which points out that the cdma2000 chip rate maximizes efficiency. Again, it is very simple. TDMA systems doesn't enjoy more efficiency by bolting a higher chip rate cdma2000 onto their legacy junk.

The concept of a multimode handsets is a crock, as also explained. It causes cost, efficiency and design problems to achieve zilch.

Mika, you can't be serious that under 5% of people need a global system. Everybody needs a global system. Depending on your definition of 'need'. It is more efficient to have a global system for a start. And more than 5% of people in NZ and most countries travel to other countries now and then. We have yet to hear the benefits to subscribers of having the rotten VW40 system.

This is all about delaying cdmaOne so GSM can enjoy some more sales. There is no VW40. Ericy is in trouble, about to sack as many people as Q! employs and they can't get a chip rate right. I guess there will be a lot of people applying to Q! for work. They could get jobs with Q! converting Europe to cdmaOne and cdma2000 so they don't even have to leave home.

Technically there is a problem with Ericy higher chip rate - things are less efficient. That is a technical issue. The bad technical decisions of Ericy would cost customers money. Multimode handsets for several 3G methods - how silly.

You are very right on it being a market issue - Ericy is going to lose their market share; what's left of it anyway.
