Infoseek and Disney to Go on Sunday
Infoseek Corp., Sunnyvale, Calif., and Walt Disney Co., Burbank, Calif., will launch their much anticipated Go Network on the Web on Sunday, according to Infoseek. The site, which will have the Internet address of go.com, is a "beta" or test version of the latest entry into the high-stakes portal market. The official debut, complete with an expensive national marketing campaign, will take place next month. The new site, using a green traffic light as a logo, looks much the same as many competing sites, with news, e-mail, community, shopping and search services. Content from Disney doesn't dominate the site, as Infoseek had promised, although there is an advertisement for the media giant's new animated picture "A Bug's Life," and links to other Disney properties such as ABCNews.com and ESPN.com.
