I had a super 7 (well actually three other guys and I had it) - we raced it at Waterford in Michigan in class C. What a fun car.

If you have never seen the place where Team Lotus did their development and prep, you missed one of the really surreal experiences in racing. They had an old English country estate - it had been used by the RAF in WWII as a fighter base so there was an airstrip which we used as a test track. We rolled the cars in and out of the huge main hall, and down the garden path... most mornings we had to wait for the fog to burn off. A lot of the guys from Lotus Engineering (which was of course a separate company by that time) also moonlighted for the team. A real blending of engineering and art.

I developed a lot of the test programs which verified operation of the active suspension systems, and did a little work on the actual suspension controls. Also got into engine calculations and burn surface simulation (predicting engine control parameters so that we could max out the power curve without quite melting anything). We did melt some stuff from time to time though...
