Coby, this is the kind of post that could launch a hundred different answers from me.

1. One thing I would observe is that MB is a value investor; I am too. Most people that hang out here are generally in that category.

2. Growth fits in with value investing. The question becomes what value to put on the growth.

3. I am reacting to your ideas expressed over months about you have no idea what value to place on a stock. But most particularly to your ideas that value investing ideas should be scrapped because there is a new pair of dimes. I would say learn the old pair of dimes before you pitch it out.

4. But certainly I would tell you that even if a Value Investor is not what you are or will be, it would truly serve you to understand what it is better.

5. I would say the IBM example is silly. No stock proves or disproves a theory. I hate the idea of the shows buy/sell/hold. Of course they are prescreened and scripted. But it gives the idea that an investor should have the right opinion about every stock in the market. The pros do <g> or at least it seems because they give their opinion on every stock they are asked about. I assure you one can do quite well by never even hearing of 99% of the stocks on the exchange. It is not so important to have the right opinion about every stock, but to select stocks that you do get a clear vision of how to handle. MB's methods made him miss amzn, for example, does that make his methods questionable? I think not.
