That is exactly my impression. You can also add COMS to the list of companies not intrested to go above 128k. I think that RBOCs want to return their investments in ISDNs before getting into higher baud rates. In addition the competitive presure from cable modems seems to be dissapating.

However I think that the long distance cos might become quite interested in the ADSL technology. ATT, MCI both are ISPs. They will be allowed to lease last mile from RBOCs, and they might capitalize on this opportunity. Then they max multiple phone conversations on a single line, bypassing RBOCs in providing long distance calls. It just a speculation or wishfull thinking, I guess.
