At this stage in the business cycle, Qualcomm management believes that it has a good story to tell.

It is remarkable to me that the `word' is not out about Qualcomm. Recently, I spoke with an engineer who was familiar with CDMA and its use in military communications yet did not know about Qualcomm.

Just today, the 1/20/97 issue of Barron's did not list under `coming earnings' that the $1billion+ in sales company, Qualcomm will report on Monday. No respect?

The largest brokerage firm in the world, Merrill Lynch, rates QCOM `ok to buy' short term and long term, yet does not to actively recommend the stock. For two years, I have suggested QCOM to a friend who is a Merrill Lynch broker. Yesterday, I asked him how many shares of Qualcomm did he think were held in his 50+ broker office? His answer: zero.

I think QCOM's lack of visibility to the investing public is about to change in 1997. Non-technical investors did not grasp the potential of Microsoft until they bought a computer with Windows. Investors may not appreciate the potential of Qualcomm until they buy a CDMA digital phone.

The ingredients may be present in 1997 for a Microsoft-type price move. QCOM has powerful revenue growth and expected profit potential. Add expanding U.S. and international customer markets along with greater visibility to the investing public and you have the potential for an dramatic price move. Technically, the stock has been in a `consolidation pattern' for about 18 months. The rule is: the wider the technical base, the greater the price move.

Next month, Qualcomm hosts its first-ever, on site, analyst meeting and factory tour. Qualcomm will have a chance to `wow Wall St.' Imagine if the Merrill security analyst `gets religion' and raises his recommendation to a `Number 1 Buy'.

If I were to write a research report on Qualcomm, I would title it:
"Qualcomm 1997 - Beaucoup Number One Boom Boom."
