Ibexx: Here are my thoughts:

I think the conference call outlook will be the same as long as EPS is at least .27. I'm expecting the usual corporate PR balancing act of highlighting there successes (Virge), their improved execution (margins/FAB/new stationary, etc.), some hopefull strong forward (Q1 and beyond) looking statements about their attempts at profitable diversification and how they plan to stay on top in their core business (graphics aka. Son of Virge). What will be interesting will be how they balance this with conservative statements about the PC market in general (a la Intel) and the competitive pressures of their segment(a la CHPS).

With the right spin and .30 EPS this stock should break and at least hold low 20s for a week or two or my name isn't DAMIEN. (Feb calls would double). If not run for your life!

With mediocre spin and .27 EPS it could stay firmly stuck in 16 - 19 territory till Q1 report when we start the process all over again.

The big question is Q4/97 - Q1/98, by then all the AGP, Talisman, Auburn, New Age Media processor doohickeys will probably have the average PC OEM in tears, and the current Virge Chip will look like an 8 Track tape. Hopefully S3 will be there either with Son of Virge either alone or in partnership with someone big with deap pockets and connections.

It has occurred to me that a shakeout could occur in this timeframe and some of the more successfull small fry like S3 could be swallowed whole (pure speculation).

But who knows? With DAMIEN at work TI, Intel, Samsung could announce a friendly buyout of SIII at $50 a share and the stock would go down.

Happy Monday.

;-p
