I am betting on single chip CMOS image sensor chip.
The CCD image sensor is not going to give up its market
share. There will be a big fight.

Once the luminicity property of the CMOS image sensor
improves to meet the specification, you will see CCD sensor
price will drop drastically. It already started last year
when the first CMOS image sensor showed up in the market place.

From what I heard, CCD currently still are brighter and better.
However, the future seems to favor CMOS devices.
