Astounding framerates are known to buyers because it is one of the things they use to make their choice.

Why would "better 2d" be any less of a marketing plus than 32-bit. Both are very minor, but if you give credibility to one then you might as well give credibility to the other.

As far as framerate goes, when you play a Quake deathmatch do you notice framerate?
