Barr Defends Speech To Racist Group - (ATLANTA) Congressman Bob Barr is brushing off a story in today's Washington Post about his keynote speech in June to a group called the Council of Conservative Citizens. Among other things, the group believes interracial marriage will bring about the demise of the white race. The Republican from Smyrna insists that he had no idea the group held those views... which he calls outrageous. Barr spoke to the group at its convention in Charleston, South Carolina last June... and he questions the timing of the Post story.
