Skeeter - I can't imagine another country in the world where a man once elected to the highest office can be in a position where his political opponents can then have him investigated for alleged irregularities committed before he took office. The statute has become a plague on the American system of government and will be completely amended or dropped altogether.

The investigators having found nothing to go on in the first go-round then seize on a parrallel case and determine to catch the office holder in a lie.

To the rest of the world all of this looks like a deadly political game of 'gottcha'

Now, it's a sin, not a crime, to commit adultery - or whatever the Monica thing was or wasn't, but in such cases both parties ALWAYS try to keep it a secret - particularly if a spouse is involved. When Clinton appeared in the Jones case - financed by his political enemies he had to tread a fine line and wanted to protect his family (and himself no doubt). If you can't understand this you don't have much imagination - or experience. And (it has to be speculation only) it would seem almost certain that other adulterers - FDR, Ike, LBJ, and JFK would have acted in the same way. The reason Clinton (and I suspect the others) acted as he did is that he was counting on the discretion of the other party. Little could he know that the other party was spilling the beans to a so-called 'friend' bent on entrapment and manipulation - a Clinton hater encouraged by another Clinton hater, and spurred on by Starr himelf. The whole thing stinks - from every angle..

As so many have said - this thing isn't about sex. But you have to be naive in the extreme (or a staunch Republican) if you don't acknowledge that it's almost everything to do with politics.
