Lawrence,
Just ran some numbers in eBay site:

Ebay participants are responsible for roughly 227,500 shipped packages per week or 11,830,000 packages per year.

Assumptions--
Ebay's published numbers are truthful
25% of all listed items actually sell (WAG)
All sold items are shipped.

Give them a 50% growth rate in listings next year (probably conservative) and you are talking about 18 million packages.
Who cares what is in them.

<<eBay (www.ebay.com), the world's personal trading community™, pioneered person-to-person online trading. Founded in 1995, eBay has developed an efficient and entertaining trading site on the Web that is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. eBay has more than 1.2 million registered users. Currently, there are more than one million items listed for sale. More than 130,000 items are added daily in more than 1,000 categories, including: antiques; books, movies and music; coins and stamps; collectibles; computers; dolls and figures; jewelry and gemstones; photo and electronics; pottery and glass; sports memorabilia; and toys>>
