As usual, Pat doesn't quite have the whole story. Think the Europeans are doing this just to "relieve" an American burden? Any more than the U.S. provided for Europe's defense out of the goodness of its own heart? Europe is relieving itself of a burden of its own: the dollar. And the stock, gold and currency markets are likely to come to this realization in a very short while.
