Nothing wrong with CEO-
CIEN started making too much money from the big boy's customers. The big boys (i.e. Lucent, Nortel) did not like this and started to offer product and promises at greatly reduced prices. The customer's some of whom own stock in the big boy's reacted to the promises by reducing orders from CIEN. Classic squeeze play by the players who have staying power. Not much CEO can do other than spend as much as possible on R&D and sales staff and start selling to new customers who are not so attached to the big boys. This is exactly what they are doing. I can't fault their logic. Seems reasonable to me.
