Dell sued by British companies

from Austin American-Statesman, Saturday, December 12, page G1

Two divisions of a small British personal computer concern have sued Dell Computer Corp. and two other PC companies for alleged patent infringement over monitors the companies sell, the Reuters news agency reported Friday.

Elonex I. P. Holdings Ltd. and Elonex said they own patents for systems that reduce power use in computer monitors during inactive periods. The suits, filed in Wilmington, Del., ask the U.S. District Court to block further alleged infringement and to award unspecified damages, according to Reuters.

The other PC makers named in the suits are Micron Electronics Inc. and Packard Bell NEC Inc. Efforts to reach Dell officials for comment Friday were unsuccessful.
