Greg, I saw this on the Oracle thread also. Im not quite sure what to make of it yet.... although I have often seen SQL as an extension of the unix file system so why not? Anything to simplify the configuration of the low-midrange servers I like - these things are too complicated and they need to be streamlined now that every mom and pop need a web server and financial software etc. to run their small biz.

The real problem with the announcement is the sun connection. I dont like Sun as a vendor of anything but very high end servers and this is a low end concept I feel - Suns mfg facility just isnt competitive. However I havent looked lately they may have cleaned things up a little, or got some new leadership.

That said, appliance, nichey systems have never really flown before.
