Ken, the experts haven't done much better than the probable outcome of decision making by coin toss based on stats published in Smart Money. I don't have the article handy, but from memory, I think Abby Cohen led the pack making the right call about 64% of the time. Ralph Acampora was fourth, barely beating the 50% mark.

Next week (12/17) semiconductor Nov. book to bill numbers come in. We're going to see some volatility. Oct's numbers will be defined as a trend reversal or a trend setter. Here's a nice chart, showing the
recent bounce off the high Bollinger band. iqc.com

The Russell 2000 hasn't performed as I had hoped it would, but the sideways movement has created a triangle pattern, signaling a powerful move is coming. The triangular pattern hasn't been outlined on this chart, but it's easy to see.

The market was swayed by the retail numbers last week and is now indicating that interest rates will go unchanged after the Fed meeting on the 22nd.

And Ken, I agree...we definatly don't want to be sitting on our hands. There's always a play.
