Hi all,
I've been really interested in this for a while as well (haven't had the money to invest before, but now I've got some and am looking for potential entry point).
Wired magazine ran a *really* good article about FedEx and its approach to the internet (their goal to ultimately be the "virtual warehouse"), CEO Fred Smith's vision, etc. I'll see if I can find the URL, it's over a year and a half old. In it, the article outlines that FedEx is getting into not only the shipping end of things but the logistics part of it as well. The thing that impressed me most, however, is that technology seems heavily ingrained into the company culture, which seems to give it an advantage over, say stodgier companies like UPS.
Other players might be Airborne Express (ABF), DHL, UPS? (of course, there's also the good old postal service, too.)
