Re: xlnx is stealing customers

I'm a bit at a loss how you can say this. Attached below are the quarter
by quarter revenues for the two companies (as reported by Value Line), and a
column showing Altera's revenues as a percentage of Xilinx's.

Quarter Altera Xilinx Altera/Xilinx
Rev Rev Rev
Jun96 116.3 150.2 77.4%
Sep96 116.7 130.6 98.4%
Dec96 127.2 135.6 93.8%
Mar97 146.0 151.7 96.2%
Jun97 165.9 160.8 103.2%
Sep97 162.1 150.3 107.9%
Dec97 157.1 148.7 105.6%
Mar98 157.2 153.8 102.2%
Jun98 160.5 151.6 105.9%
Sep98 164.2 155.0 105.9%

It isn't apparent to me that XLNX is stealing any customers from ALTR. To the
contrary ALTR has moved ahead of XLNX! At best one might say that XLNX
has stemmed their losses and are *maybe* holding even with ALTR for the
moment since the Asian problems began.

Have I missed something that's not in the numbers?
