I doubt MM made a mistake. He knows LGND very well. One of his favorite concepts is that gross value of all of the many small molecular biology stocks is less than that of one of the over-heated internet stocks. He sees great value there. There is plenty of capital available if WS thinks you have a growth vehicle. IMO, a number of these cos. are very close to unocking the secrets of the gene as they apply to human disease. So far, LGND and ISIP have NDA's for advanced products (there may be others). If the FDA approves a few more and the momentum starts to build, WS may pick up the scent and that kind of stategy could make a lot more sense.
