Mike,
I'm not sure how to explain the discrepancy in price between the figure quoted by Caligor (about $8.67 per tests when bought in a "10 pack") versus the statement in the press release that the test will cost the physician "under $20.00". These statements are really not inconsistent- I guess Quidel just wants to give its other distrubutors and resellers plenty of "wiggle room" in setting their own price- I'm not sure how this works but I suspect these distributors function much like car dealers- they all pay Quidel pretty much the same "wholesale" price (with the possible exception of Amerinet members and possibly Medpartners people, both of whom have obviously worked out their own price deal w/ QDEL, with a substantial volume discount, I suspect) and these distributors are free to set their own price for the test- so while Caligor may be willing to make only a few cents in profit per test, General Medical may charge $10.000 per test and Durr Medical may charge $12.00 per test. These are well under $20.00

This is all just a guess on my part
