I agree with the essence of what you say

The honorable thing to do would be for Clinton to resign -- this he will never do. But then neither would Nixon have -- if he had a 70% popularity rating in '74.

It amazes me that Americans are so indifferent to a President who may have broken the law. I think that a solution would be for Clinton to hand power to Gore under the appropriate amendment, agree to go on trial on a expedited basis and if he is convicted resign--and if he is acquitted, he resumes as President.
