Ish, I dont know how old you are but unless you are a member of GenX or the latter part of the baby boom as I understand it you will receive a nice annual return on the money you put into SS. I even read one study that indicated that recipients today and for the next 10 years or so recieve 1000% on their money in some cases due to the inflation indexing of the 70s. So, if you contributed to SS before that time - its a bonanza I suppose. One of many redistribution of wealth schemes going on. What IS a mystery to me is why people keep associating the SS/Medicare fiasco with Dems. The only groups that I know of that really screamed about entitlements are the bipartisan Concord Coalition (Kerry) and Lead or Leave which is a liberal GenX group. Newt was all over the soundbyte "saving social security" - what did he mean by that. If he had said, "make social security FAIR for all americans" then I might be interested.
