Shalin, Please get a grip. Your first response and comments were at best entertaining. Now, However, you are becoming obnoxious. C-Cube is doing a great job in China as I have seen the results of their efforts in many shops in Asia. (Side note, Players have not dropped that much as I purchased a portable off brand player for $250US and this had no Karoke functions. Karoke is the driving force of the VCD players in China If you did your homework Shalin.. The Karoke portable and full size players are over 300 bucks!! )
As was said in many of the respones to your completely ignorant claims and evaluations, C-Cube is the chip of choice in the Asian VCD market, as they hold a majority of the market share currently, and probably will so in the future. They are not the price leaders as they will admit, they are servicing the higher end. (cost /performance end)
C-Cube just announced their new part that intergrated a very essential NTSC encoder that anyone making a new player take a second look even if their most important concern is cost. Howeve,r on the Higher end, this new part will not only drive the BOM down, but increase the quality of the playback.
Shalin, Please do your homework about the industry and C-Cube. C-Cube's business is not only in VCD but in the rapidly expanding encoding market where C-cube gets Multiple $1000s per chip set. They also sell to the exploding set top box market where their advantage in this market has been strenghten by the Divicom Merger. Not to mentioned the rapidly growing revenue of their systems business. (ASP's of over $50K per system)
Alex B in no way hinted that there would be no comp in DVD. Of course there will be comp. C-Cube might not be the largest seller of DVD chips either. But, this market is so large that there is more than enough room for Cube ESSt and SGS to name just a few. Keep in mind though that all of the Asian manufacturers that lead the pack in VCD have a DVD platform planned. Cube is position well to roll forward with these companies in Asia.
As far as why the cube stock fell $.50 on friday and ess went up. Well, why did Intel fall $5 on Tremendous earnings? The market is very emotional and you cannot use logic to predict or describe why this animal does what it does. You can only observe, look at companies business models and future, and then place your bet.
The main point here is start using the brain that you think you have and do what you do while at school. LEARN, ASK QUESTONS, AND DONT MAKE ASSUMPTIONS.
Lets bring this post back to a more intellectual level. Shalin, make your comments, state your opinions (hopefully, based on some information), and reduce you pollution level. K |
