I think its interesting to note that the defenders of Clinton point to public opinion as the bedrock of the anti-impeachment drive... the public doesnt want it, thus it wouldnt happen.

If you go back to 1868, if public opinion was dispositive, Andrew Johnson would have been convicted and removed based upon public opinion. At that time.. the public opinion was overwhelmingly in favor of impeachment, yet the members of the senate voted their conscious (against public opinion) and did the right thing. Maybe History will repeat itself, and the members of the Senate (if the trial is held) will follow the facts, the law, and their oath to defend, protect and uphold the Constitution of the United States
