Yesterdays' Sunday NYTime had an article about ABC-TV and also yesterdays' NYPost had a nice story about GE's Welch. It was noted in the latter that a rumor last month suggested NBC could be spun off although that rumor wasn't given much support by GE execs. However, it was suggested in the article the possibility that maybe TV NBC has reached it high point ? They note higher production costs and slipping prime ratings.

Here is my question: If they spin their NBC off would that mean that current GE shareholders get a dividend sort of or could GE just IPO 100 % of NBC ? So in a way isn't that like selling it ?

Thanks
