Don't count on a STB Velocity 3200 with a Savage chip. 3DFX is buying STBI or merging depending on how you read it. I am guessing that they will only produce boards with Voodoo, Banshee, and follow ons. This is probably a big blow to Nvidia since STB was the leading shipper of TNT boards via the Velocity 4400. This looks to be a 3DFX move to get more of its chips into OEM machines and displace the Nvidia TNT. Now, does Nvidia buy, merge, or get bought by Creative or DIMD? S3 is also now talking about Savage embedded on motherboards. They will have to do the boards themselves unless they can do a deal with DIMD or Creative. This seems to be the latest trend and maybe by next year this time there will only be a few companies left that do both the boards and chips like ATI does now.
