are .18 micron chips truely viable?

Hi Mr. Sam, hope you've done well with your investments this year.
I have a general question for you. Many companies are starting
to stake their futures on .18 micron products. Many are making
announcements of next generation products based on this density.
My question is, are they full of it? Or is .18 micron production
with good yields a viable reality, given the current state of
fabrication equipment, testers, and human resources. I remember
when we started out talking about SFAM, that .18 microns was kind
of the sound barrier of current silicon fabrication technology,
hence my skeptism.
