IMO your are
best off with a harddrive DOS installation which is best done on a second
physical drive leaving the original NT installation untouched.

Yes I am using your KOT 2 drive system as my model and intend to install DOS on the secondary drive. My primary channel master will arrive this week hopefully with only NT on it and I have asked Jon if he can first install DOS on my other primary channel slave drive. Haven't heard back but I don't think he offers Dos OS though which leaves me to use the BM method or the manual method Spots outlined to get DOS onto my second drive. and boot from Bios.

MO you should also maintain the capability of booting DOS from a floppy
even if you have a harddrive DOS installation. The floppy DOS boot could
suffice by itself...it is certainly the cheapest solution.

Yes... I'd like to have DOS on a bootable floppy as well as on the second hdd. I know I'm going the whole 9 yards here but besides being mandatory as an NT repair/Bios flash utility as Spots first made me aware this DOS excerise is providing me with an excellent first project with which to get acquainted with WinNT and the 2 drive config.

Let us know if all your computer friends are Mac users ie you do not have a
way to make a DOS boot disk.

You know me too well<g> that indeed is my situation. Although I have adopted you guys as my computer friends. <g>
Sorry.. the papers have already been drawn up <gg>.
I'd like to concentrate on firstgetting DOS onto the hdd though. (I confuse easily these days).

My preference
would be to select the boot from the bios. It seems a lot safer than the boot
manager or 'inserting' records at the beginning of the NT installation.

I agree. I think this should be the first choice, especially for a neophite such as myself. I've saved this PM/BM post from you to get back to if I end up going the BM route.
