Skeet - <OT> I am a "health nut," have been a regular at health food stores since I was 13, so that's 33 years. I even managed one briefly while I was in college. I really liked something the owner told me. That store catered to body builders, who really hog down supplements. The owner said that if you told body builders that rat poop would make their muscles larger, they would take rat poop. Too true.<g> So, whenever I contemplate a supplement, I always ask myself if it is "rat poop" or not.
Perhaps you are aware that the NIH is funding research in alternative medicine, including supplements, acupuncture, etc. Alternative medicine is big business, and the price difference between brands is partially just hype, but partially due to better quality materials. Over time I have learned that the best brands are Solgar, Kal, and Twinlabs, and I tend to stick with them even though they are more expensive. This may just be because I am middle-class, and buying name brands is middle-class behavior.<g> |
