It may be true that GSM would fill 25 binders. W-CDMA may fill 50. And there may only be "a couple" pages devoted to chip rate. However, the chip rate is important because it is one of the few differences between W-CDMA and cdma2000. Other than that, the other 99% of the binders are largely redundant with cdma2000. We could save a lot of trees by just using cdma2000 to begin with for 3g.

Comparing the relative attention that a manual gives to various specifications for a standard to determine relevance to the standard is like comparing the number of patents a company holds for an invention, rather than the quality of the patents relative to the invention. And certainly no one of minimal intelligence would ever make that mistake...
