I think a good upgrade would be to include a "Next unread message" link to the links at the bottom of a post. Previous \| Next \| Respond \| View reply to this message \| Next unread message\| This way, when you get to the end of the new posts to one thread, you can jump directly to the first unread message of the next thread without having to go back through your Bookmarks page. If you follow a couple dozen threads, that's a couple dozen page loads you wouldn't have to wait on.
