postinfo.upu.org Standards The UPU Technical Standards Board is working on the development of standards for the encoding of information in the form of 2-dimensional symbols, printed on mail items, labels and supporting documentation. The first application envisaged is for proof of payment purposes, but other applications, such as the encoding of transport instructions on parcel labels, are also being considered. Although the TSB did not reach the stage approving standards in this area, the working group concerned is seeking feedback, both from postal enterprises and from suppliers of symbol printing and reading equipment and software, on their current drafts
