Wow. My initial reaction was negative as I have specifically avoided investing in a board-maker. I preferred the multi-vendor availability of 3Dfx products as a hedge against one board maker doing something stupid.

So now I own a board-maker. The upside is that 3Dfx's management has (in theory) more control over their channel and last quarter's fiasco with Diamond won't be repeated. But do I trust 3Dfx's management to execute properly?

TDFX now gets a (slightly) bigger cut of all Voodoo3 sales. Voodoo3 average selling prices should be somewhat higher. But will sales suffer?

And what do OEMs think of this deal? Was this deal inspired by feedback from OEMs about Banshee1?

God, I hope the daytraders don't get a hold of this stock again...
