Hyde did not lie under oath, did not lie on TV... Charles, perhaps, but Hyde is the one who praised Oliver North and excused his lies to Congress because they were made in service of a "higher purpose". Neither side deserves much respect in this current process and the best I can hope for is that the backlash is focused only on the far right - the Bob Barrs of the party - and moderate Republicans will lead the party once again. The ridiculous thing is that there is NO chance the Senate will remove Clinton from office, so this effort by the right to impeach can only harm the party and the nation. There would be no dishonor, IMO, if they concluded, now that all the facts are in, that some lesser punishment was appropriate. The self-destructive behavior of the right astounds me. Regards, Bob
