the article very carefully delineates reasons why *certain* high tech sectors are candidates for a large drop. They are related to DRAMs and the companies that produce computers or sell computers (the CompUSAs). The author put it this way:
" Of course some companies are more vulnerable than others, (see table). Companies likely to be hardest hit? Those producing commodity products with no proprietary advantages. "

Where does Ascend fit into that scenario? Nowhere, that's where. Networking companies were not pinpointed, with a single exception (Cabletron) and there is no reason to suspect that companies won't continue to link their operations via WANs and utlize the Internet and build ever more Intranets than has been the case in the recent past.

This story has little basis for inclusion in any reasons why Ascend will fall, IMO - as even a cursory reading will prove to anyone who takes the time.

Why would you cite this article as a reason for thinking otherwise?
