I think everyone here is waaayyy off base. I plan to do an analysis tonight on 3dfx's and STB's current market positions, financials, and try to put some numbers down that will show how the combined entity will operate. If I have enough time I'll try to do best and worst case scenarios.

I believe the stock price reaction is based on several million shares bought pre-merger expecting to see a quick pop in the stock price. The lack of upward movement has precipitated the dumping. It is my belief that the neanderthal day-traders were merely trying to use inside information for a quick buck. Once analysts get the opportunity to run the numbers, we'll see a full accounting of the bottom line.

I did not expect the bombshell we got today

Sure you did. This stock doesn't trade nearly a million shares a day in the upward direction (block trades and all) without something behind it. I think you may have ignored it because you were looking to justify your sell. Had you actually recognized that something very positive was happening behind the scenes it would be harder to justify your sell. I think you, of all people, should have seen this coming.

Based on some of my early numbers, I'd like to go down on record as saying that this is the best news I've heard from 3dfx since their IPO. I find myself excited for the first time in several months at their financial prospects. Okay Chip, where do I sign up to become an official member of the brigade.

P.S. Is it just me or do we do way overanalyze the technodetails and underanalyze the business fundamentals?
