Basically I agree with your analysis. Qiagen is a fine company but the market for its products is limited. I don't short stocks but this is probably a good bet. Two things to consider however, with its lofty PE qiagen can grow by acquiring smaller life science companies using its stock as currency. In addition, R&D spending is increasing dramatically in biomolecular research fueled primarily by the biotec companies. More research the more use of Qiagen products. Still the 80 plus multiple is ridiculous.
